Ted was working as a landscaper as a summer job at an apartment complex in Queens when he was stopped with his co-workers. “[The cops] had done what’s known as a ‘street-sweep’...if you’re on that block, everyone gets stopped, everyone gets frisked. They actually put us all against the wall, they dropped our pants. Obviously, I had a rake in my hand- so, it’s just funny how easily that someone’s rights could be taken away but ya know, we’re working, we’re all in our work outfits, we’re wearing the same thing. We’re not a gang that says “landscaping” across it.” |
