While international contemporary art has been relying on new technologies for quite a while, Burmese painters still compete to get access to the few printers, graphic design software and art magazines available in the capital. And to what end ? There is no demand. Burma?s tiny middle class is not ready to invest in modern art and most of Burma?s recent artwork is snatched by expats and tourists, a clientele who quickly disappears at the first sign of a riot or a cyclone. Even in a good year, Burma attracts around 300,000 travelers, four times less than Thailand.]]></description>
