Description: |
The Veterans Home in Yountville is the largest facility for vets in the US. Set on a campus surrounded by Napa Valley vineyards, 1100 residents enjoy high quality social and medical care, a military community, and the comfort of 24/7 support. Some vets wait for years to come here. Some vets are abandoned by their families and adopted by the staff at the Home. Many vets work at the home, growing produce, running the home-based KVET TV station, organizing events and providing administrative support. |

Former WWII sailor Franklin Hanses had lived at the home for 15 years, passing away on May 2, 2006. Here his ashes are buried in the Vets Home Cemetery as some of his family look on.
